Frequently Asked Questions About Solar

Your Solar Questions Answered

Are Solar Panels Worth Installing?

Solar panels help reduce electricity bills, increase property value, and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle. With government incentives and the high amount of sunlight in Australia, the return on investment is usually significant. However, you do need to ensure you are installing with a trustworthy company that is providing you a significant return on investment through quality products, honest information and a reliable service department if there are any mishaps in the coming years.

Installing the maximum number of solar panels helps you maximise your energy savings. This approach allows you to generate more power, reducing your reliance on the grid by covering your energy usage and increasing the potential for feeding excess energy back to the grid if you do not have battery storage

The cost of installing solar panels can vary depending on the size of the system, the quality of the panels, and any additional components such as inverters, monitoring and battery storage. Contact us for a personalised quote.

Solar panel installation involves mounting the panels on your roof, connecting them to an inverter, and setting up the electrical wiring.

Most solar installations can be completed within 1-2 days, depending on the size and complexity of the system. Factors such as roof type and weather conditions may affect installation time.

No we do not. Every role in our business is in-house and our own employees. On your installation will be our employees who are qualified electricians, apprentice electricians with at least one qualified CEC certified electrician on every installation. Having our own employees ensures we can maintain high standards from our in-house solar specific training.

If you do have spares that’s great. Though they won’t always be needed. The majority of the time tiles will not be broken, though if they are and you have spares we will ask for a spare. It’s uncommon to have over six tiles broken unless you have extremely brittle tiles and if this is the case the job may not be able to be done. If you don’t have any spare tiles please advise us before the installation date so we can make other arrangements.

t’s not necessary however we can come to site before the installation if required to check something or if this is important to you to meet us before going ahead. Through our programs we can work out shading and design through software we use and can gather all the information we need through other sources and can adapt on the day at no extra cost. This is a bonus of having in house employees and not contractors.

You will receive a confirmation from us letting you know we have received your deposit and signed proposal. We will then be in touch 2 to 3 weeks out from your install to book a date.

It’s a good idea to be home when we arrive so we can go over the installation with you and see if we will need any internal access to the roof. If we do require internal access we can get this done first so you are free to leave for the day.

We will usually need to turn the power off for no more than half an hour towards the end of the day. We will always let you know before we turn it off.

Depending on the retailer, it can take roughly between 2-4 weeks.

You will receive an email with information regarding this within 5 days after your solar installation.

Depending on your roof type we use specialised brackets that suit your house.

  • If it is a tile roof – we use tile brackets that slide under the tile.
  • Tin roof – we use the existing roof screw lines to attach the tin feet.

We will contact your retailer (Energy Provider) and then we will send you an email with all of the information you require. The next step is to either contact your retailer or wait for them to contact you depending on who your retailer is for your meter to be swapped or remotely reconfigured. We have made a detailed video with the process from start to finish which is attached to your initial quote.

When the sun is shining.

You will be paying your normal electricity rate at night time though the solar feed in tarriff you get paid for during the day when you aren’t at home will help offset your night time usage.

Solar Only

  • In the event of a blackout, your solar power system will switch off and remain inactive until power returns. This is a mandatory safety feature of your solar energy system. It’s designed to protect those who may be working on the blacked-out grid system. If it didn’t turn off and continued to run, those working on the grid may be at risk of electrocution as your system will continue to send power back through the grid.
  • You must ensure all of the switches on your solar power system are set to ‘on’ when the grid returns to normal. If your switches are turned off, you will not generate any solar electricity.

Solar & battery storage

  • The battery’s backup circuits will keep the power on as long as your batteries are charged. The length of time your battery can keep your lights on during a blackout depends on the capacity of your solar battery and the energy demand of your home. Larger batteries or those designed for long-term backup will last longer. Smaller systems may only keep critical devices running for a few hours.

Panels are self-cleaning if they have been installed at a pitch that allows for runoff. However, we do recommend a panel clean if you have experienced; dusty conditions, have issues with mould or lichen, have issues with birds or wildlife or have issues with tree sap.

We are a local company in the Sutherland Shire so contact our office directly and we can arrange for a service call from one of our in-house service technicians. Depending on the workload at the time it can take 2 days to 2 Weeks.

Yes definitely, ask us for the exact warranty for your solar system that you will be getting designed as each product varies.

Yes, as all of our solar systems are battery ready.

Yes, you are if your solar system is under 100kW.

The solar PV system or product you purchase in order to receive STCs must adhere to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) design and install guidelines, only use panels and inverters on the CEC approved list, comply with the relevant standards (like AS 4777), and be installed by a CEC accredited installer.
